China Mobile’s Hong Kong branch (CMHK), the largest state-owned telecommunications company in China, announces the launch of an NFT trading platform called LinkNFT.

According to local news outlet PR Newswire, CMHK is at the forefront of embracing Web3 with the launch of the LinkNFT platform. Targeting primarily businesses and organizations, LinkNFT enables NFT minting and trading across SocialFi, DeFi, GameFi, and various other sectors.

LinkNFT currently hosts 30 NFTs and aims to expand to 500,000 under CMHK’s purview. Beyond collectible value, holders of NFTs on LinkNFT will receive exclusive perks from the telco giant. Some NFT images on LinkNFT have been shared by netizens on X as seen below.

Last year, CMHK launched the MyLink Web3 app. The app has reached over 7 million users. According to the statement, Mylink also includes the LinKey Web3 wallet, and has now built LinkNFT.

Web3.0 applications are entering the stage of development from virtual to real through Dapps. Currently, MyLink is actively expanding its Web3.0 application ecosystem to create a digital identity system for all Hong Kong citizens.

Mr. Tan Hui, CEO of China Mobile Hong Kong MyLink, said:

The move of telecom operators to enter the Web3 market is no longer surprising. In October 2023, South Korea’s largest telecom operator SK Telecom also announced that it is collaborating with CryptoQuant to launch a cryptocurrency wallet. This is primarily to prepare for the future wave of cryptocurrency adoption.
